The Lake Kaltern is not only a place for swimming and relaxing, but also a starting point for wonderful hikes. A leisurely circular hiking trail leads around the lake through vineyards, orchards and the biotope – perfect for a relaxing morning or evening walk with a lake view.
If you want to go higher, follow the hiking trail to Leuchtenburg, which towers over the lake on the Mitterberg. The ascent is rewarded with a unique view over the lake, the Etschtal valley and as far as the Dolomites. The ruin itself is a historic place full of atmosphere – a real insider tip, especially at sunset.

The 7.5 km long path takes you around Lake Kaltern in about 90 minutes. There is a lot to discover: vineyards, orchards, biotope, places to stop for refreshments…
